Kling AI Pricing Review (2026): What a Clip Really Costs
Five plans, one credit meter, and a first-month price that is not the price. We did the math so you do not have to.
Summary
Kling AI pricing in October 2026 runs from a free Basic plan to Ultra at $180 a month, with Standard at $10, Pro at $37 and Premier at $92. The headline first-month prices are one-time: Standard renews at $8.80. A 5-second 1080p clip with audio costs 60 credits, about $0.80 on Standard. Credits expire monthly, off-prompt renders are still charged, and Trustpilot sits at 1.2 out of 5. Here is the full cost math and who should pay.
Kling AI pricing is cheap per clip and messy per invoice. On Standard, a 5-second 1080p clip with native audio costs 60 credits, about $0.80 at the $8.80 renewal rate. Output quality is top tier, but we score it 6.8/10 because credits expire monthly, failed renders still cost credits, and Trustpilot sits at 1.2/5 across 411 reviews.
- Output quality
- 8.5/10
- Cost per clip
- 7.5/10
- Pricing clarity
- 5/10
- Reliability
- 5.5/10
- Support and billing
- 2/10
- Standard at $8.80 renewal is the cheapest plan with commercial rights and no watermark
- Per-second billing makes costs predictable: 6 to 12 credits a second, 30 for native 4K
- Credit packs last 2 years, so bursty users can avoid monthly expiry
- Intro prices ($6.99, $25.99, $64.99, $127.99) are first-month only and every plan renews higher
- Subscription credits expire after one month with no rollover
- Failed or off-prompt renders still burn credits unless the job errors out
- Trustpilot reports of unanswered billing tickets and hard cancellations are widespread
First-month discount applies once. Check the renewal line before you pay.
How we audited it
- Version tested
- Kling VIDEO 3.0 rates, Kling 4.0 announced (rates unpublished)
- Test period
- 2026-10-13 → 2026-10-14
Let's be straight about what this is. We did not buy a paid month and generate 200 clips. This is a pricing audit done on October 13 and 14, 2026. We opened Kling's membership page, its API pricing page and its Kling 3.0 credit cost guide, took our own screenshots of each, and recomputed every cost per clip from the published credit rates. We then cross-checked the numbers against four independent write-ups (Fello AI, Magic Hour, Layer3Labs, Aiverda Labs) and pulled ratings from Trustpilot and the App Store on the same days. Reddit threads were read for recurring complaints, not for statistics. Where a figure is our own arithmetic, we say so. Where sources disagree, we say that too.
Should you pay for Kling?
YES if you...
- You publish AI video for clients or a brand channel and need commercial rights and no watermark
- You can draft at 720p and only render the keeper in 1080p or 4K
- You want the cheapest per-second price among the big video models once you pass the entry tier
NO if you...
- You need a guaranteed human answer on billing, because support reports are bad
- You generate once or twice a month, since subscription credits vanish after a month
- You want to test for free for days, because Basic lists no monthly credits
- You work on political or sensitive topics, which Kling's moderation tends to block

The honest ledger
Pros
- Cheapest commercial entry point in its class Standard at $8.80 renewal includes 1080p, 4K export, no watermark and commercial use.
- Transparent per-second credit rates Once you know 6, 8, 9, 12 and 30 credits a second, you can budget a project before you hit generate.
- Credit price falls fast with volume From $1.33 per 100 credits on Standard to $0.62 on Ultra, a 53 percent drop.
- Credit packs last two years Packs bought at about $1 for 66 credits escape the monthly expiry that hits subscription credits.
Cons
- Intro pricing hides the true monthly cost The headline $6.99 becomes $8.80, a 26 percent jump. Ultra goes from $127.99 to $159.99.
- Subscription credits expire after one month Light users pay for 660 credits and may use 200. Nothing rolls over.
- Off-prompt results are charged in full Refunds apply when a job fails outright. A clip that renders but ignores your prompt still costs the credits.
- Support and cancellation complaints dominate Trustpilot 408 of 411 reviews on klingai.com are 1 star, mostly about billing, cancellations and unanswered tickets.
- Free tier is thin and inconsistent Sources disagree on daily free credits for Basic, and Kling publishes no fixed amount.
Worth it if you stay disciplined
Kling is the model we would pick for price per second once you are past the entry tier. The math is simple and mostly honest: 12 credits a second for 1080p with audio, 30 for 4K, and Standard credits at $1.33 per 100. If you draft at 720p, render the keeper in 1080p, and cancel on time, $8.80 a month buys real commercial footage.
The problem is everything around the meter. The first-month discount is a one-time perk, credits expire monthly, and off-prompt renders still cost you. Add 408 one-star reviews out of 411 on one Trustpilot page and you have a company whose billing side has not caught up with its model.
Our advice: start on monthly Standard, never annual. Track your keeper rate for two months. Move to Pro only if you run out of credits, and consider credit packs if your work comes in bursts. Wait for Kling 4.0 credit rates before you budget a 30-second workflow. Steal this rule: if you cannot afford to lose a month of credits, buy a pack instead of a plan.
- Output quality 8.5/10 Top tier on third-party leaderboards
- Cost per clip 7.5/10 $0.80 for 5s 1080p audio on Standard
- Pricing clarity 5/10 Intro price differs from renewal
- Reliability 5.5/10 60-70% usable per third parties
- Support and billing 2/10 1.2/5 on Trustpilot, 411 reviews
