## Kling AI Pricing Review (2026): What a Clip Really Costs

Five plans, one credit meter, and a first-month price that is not the price. We did the math so you do not have to.

## Verdict

**Score: 6.8/10**

Kling AI pricing is cheap per clip and messy per invoice. On Standard, a 5-second 1080p clip with native audio costs 60 credits, about $0.80 at the $8.80 renewal rate. Output quality is top tier, but we score it 6.8/10 because credits expire monthly, failed renders still cost credits, and Trustpilot sits at 1.2/5 across 411 reviews.

**Quick scores:**

- Output quality: 8.5/10
- Cost per clip: 7.5/10
- Pricing clarity: 5/10
- Reliability: 5.5/10
- Support and billing: 2/10

**Pros:**

- Standard at $8.80 renewal is the cheapest plan with commercial rights and no watermark
- Per-second billing makes costs predictable: 6 to 12 credits a second, 30 for native 4K
- Credit packs last 2 years, so bursty users can avoid monthly expiry

**Cons:**

- Intro prices ($6.99, $25.99, $64.99, $127.99) are first-month only and every plan renews higher
- Subscription credits expire after one month with no rollover
- Failed or off-prompt renders still burn credits unless the job errors out
- Trustpilot reports of unanswered billing tickets and hard cancellations are widespread

*Call to action: Check Kling plans* (First-month discount applies once. Check the renewal line before you pay.)

## How we audited it

- **Version tested:** Kling VIDEO 3.0 rates, Kling 4.0 announced (rates unpublished)
- **Test period:** 2026-10-13 → 2026-10-14

**Test categories:** Consumer plans, Credit cost per clip, API pricing, User reviews, Hidden costs

Let's be straight about what this is. We did not buy a paid month and generate 200 clips. This is a pricing audit done on October 13 and 14, 2026. We opened Kling's membership page, its API pricing page and its Kling 3.0 credit cost guide, took our own screenshots of each, and recomputed every cost per clip from the published credit rates. We then cross-checked the numbers against four independent write-ups (Fello AI, Magic Hour, Layer3Labs, Aiverda Labs) and pulled ratings from Trustpilot and the App Store on the same days. Reddit threads were read for recurring complaints, not for statistics. Where a figure is our own arithmetic, we say so. Where sources disagree, we say that too.

## Should you pay for Kling?

**YES if you...**

- You publish AI video for clients or a brand channel and need commercial rights and no watermark
- You can draft at 720p and only render the keeper in 1080p or 4K
- You want the cheapest per-second price among the big video models once you pass the entry tier

**NO if you...**

- You need a guaranteed human answer on billing, because support reports are bad
- You generate once or twice a month, since subscription credits vanish after a month
- You want to test for free for days, because Basic lists no monthly credits
- You work on political or sensitive topics, which Kling's moderation tends to block

## Kling AI plans, first month vs renewal

### Basic — $0/mo

Testing only

- No monthly credits listed
- Watermark stays on
- Personal use only
- No 1080p or 4K

### Standard — $10/mo list

$6.99 first month, then $8.80

- 660 credits per month
- 1080p and 4K, no watermark
- Commercial use
- About $1.33 per 100 credits

### Pro — $37/mo list *(Most popular)*

$25.99 first month, then $32.56

- 3,000 credits per month
- Element library of 150
- Priority access to new features
- About $1.09 per 100 credits

### Premier — $92/mo list

$64.99 first month, then $80.96

- 8,000 credits per month
- Same features as Pro
- Volume is the only upgrade
- About $1.01 per 100 credits

### Ultra — $180/mo list *(Best credit price)*

$127.99 first month, then $159.99

- 26,000 credits per month
- Element library of 500
- Beta invites when offered
- About $0.62 per 100 credits

**ROI breakdown:** At the Standard renewal rate, one 5-second 1080p clip with native audio costs about $0.80. At Ultra it drops to about $0.37. If you keep one clip in three, your real price per usable clip is roughly three times higher.

**Hidden costs & gotchas:**

- Intro price applies once: Standard renews at $8.80, Pro at $32.56, Premier at $80.96, Ultra at $159.99
- Subscription credits expire one month after issue
- Annual plans bill the full year up front with no refund for unused months
- Native audio adds 50 percent to a clip, and native 4K costs 2.5 times a 1080p clip with audio
- API access is sold separately as prepaid packages starting at $700 for 5,000 units

## What we measured

- **5s clip, 720p, no audio:** 30 credits (about $0.40) *(6 credits per second, Kling credit guide, Oct 13 2026)*
- **5s clip, 1080p, native audio:** 60 credits (about $0.80) *(12 credits per second; about $0.37 on Ultra)*
- **5s clip, native 4K:** 150 credits (about $2.00) *(30 credits per second, 2.5 times 1080p with audio)*
- **Footage on one Standard month:** 55 seconds of 1080p with audio *(660 credits divided by 12 credits per second)*
- **Cheapest credits on any plan:** $0.62 per 100 credits *(Ultra at $159.99 for 26,000 credits, versus $1.33 on Standard)*
- **First-year cost of Standard:** $103.79 monthly billing *($6.99 plus eleven payments of $8.80; annual billing is $79.20)*
- **API 1080p with native audio:** $0.168 per second *(Kling 3.0, kling.ai/dev/pricing, 1.2 units at $0.14)*
- **Third-party success rate:** 60-70% of generations usable *(Reported by Aiverda Labs, not measured by us; at 65% a $0.80 clip costs about $1.23 per keeper)*

> Open the official membership page and read the plan cards.

Standard shows $6.99 for the first month with $10 struck through and 'Then $8.8/month' underneath. Pro, Premier and Ultra follow the same pattern. The 'Daily Free Credits for Subscribers' line appears on paid plans only.

> Open the developer pricing page and compare it to the consumer credit rates.

The API lists Kling 3.0 at 0.9 units ($0.126) per second for 720p with audio and 3.0 units ($0.42) per second for 4K. Packages start at $700 for 5,000 units with a 180-day validity and no rollover. The page states these plans do not support Kling 4.0 yet.

> Read Kling's own credit guide for Kling 3.0.

The guide confirms native 4K at 30 credits per second and lists reference outputs such as 33 720p videos on Standard. It also says plan benefits and credit rules can change, so treat every number here as a dated snapshot.

## The honest ledger

### Pros

- **Cheapest commercial entry point in its class** — Standard at $8.80 renewal includes 1080p, 4K export, no watermark and commercial use.
- **Transparent per-second credit rates** — Once you know 6, 8, 9, 12 and 30 credits a second, you can budget a project before you hit generate.
- **Credit price falls fast with volume** — From $1.33 per 100 credits on Standard to $0.62 on Ultra, a 53 percent drop.
- **Credit packs last two years** — Packs bought at about $1 for 66 credits escape the monthly expiry that hits subscription credits.

### Cons

- **Intro pricing hides the true monthly cost** — The headline $6.99 becomes $8.80, a 26 percent jump. Ultra goes from $127.99 to $159.99.
- **Subscription credits expire after one month** — Light users pay for 660 credits and may use 200. Nothing rolls over.
- **Off-prompt results are charged in full** — Refunds apply when a job fails outright. A clip that renders but ignores your prompt still costs the credits.
- **Support and cancellation complaints dominate Trustpilot** — 408 of 411 reviews on klingai.com are 1 star, mostly about billing, cancellations and unanswered tickets.
- **Free tier is thin and inconsistent** — Sources disagree on daily free credits for Basic, and Kling publishes no fixed amount.

## Worth it if you stay disciplined

**Score: 6.8/10**

Kling is the model we would pick for price per second once you are past the entry tier. The math is simple and mostly honest: 12 credits a second for 1080p with audio, 30 for 4K, and Standard credits at $1.33 per 100. If you draft at 720p, render the keeper in 1080p, and cancel on time, $8.80 a month buys real commercial footage.

The problem is everything around the meter. The first-month discount is a one-time perk, credits expire monthly, and off-prompt renders still cost you. Add 408 one-star reviews out of 411 on one Trustpilot page and you have a company whose billing side has not caught up with its model.

Our advice: start on monthly Standard, never annual. Track your keeper rate for two months. Move to Pro only if you run out of credits, and consider credit packs if your work comes in bursts. Wait for Kling 4.0 credit rates before you budget a 30-second workflow. Steal this rule: if you cannot afford to lose a month of credits, buy a pack instead of a plan.

**Dimensional scoring:**

- **Output quality:** 8.5/10 — Top tier on third-party leaderboards
- **Cost per clip:** 7.5/10 — $0.80 for 5s 1080p audio on Standard
- **Pricing clarity:** 5/10 — Intro price differs from renewal
- **Reliability:** 5.5/10 — 60-70% usable per third parties
- **Support and billing:** 2/10 — 1.2/5 on Trustpilot, 411 reviews
